1. Who We Are

Fwago is a lease transfer platform operated by Fwago Technologies. We can be reached at hello@fwago.com.

2. Information We Collect

From exiting tenants:

  • Full name, WhatsApp number, email address
  • National Identity Number (NIN)
  • Tenancy agreement and electricity bill (for verification only)
  • Property location coordinates captured via Google Maps
  • Lease details: annual rent, start and end dates, months remaining

From incoming tenants:

  • Full name, WhatsApp number, email address
  • Employment details: employer name, monthly salary, employment type
  • Payslip or offer letter (for verification only)
  • Payment information processed securely by Paystack

From landlords:

  • Full name, WhatsApp number
  • Property address and type

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To verify the authenticity of a lease listing before it goes live
  • To match exiting tenants with incoming tenants in the same area
  • To coordinate the landlord introduction and consent process
  • To send WhatsApp and email notifications at each transfer stage
  • To process and hold payments securely via Paystack
  • To generate transfer documents upon completion

4. How We Protect Your Information

Your full address and identity are never shared publicly. They are revealed only to your verified match after both parties have confirmed their intent on the platform. Uploaded documents (lease agreements, electricity bills, payslips) are used solely for verification and are not shared with third parties outside of the transfer process.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services: Paystack (payment processing and escrow), Google Maps (location verification), Airtable (data storage), Wati (WhatsApp messaging), and Brevo (email).

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to complete a transfer. After a transfer is completed, verification documents are retained for 12 months for dispute resolution purposes, then deleted.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting hello@fwago.com. We will respond within 7 business days.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Fwago, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These terms apply to all users: exiting tenants, incoming tenants, and landlords.

2. What Fwago Does

Fwago is a marketplace and coordination platform for lease transfers. We verify listings, match parties, hold payments in escrow, coordinate landlord introductions, and issue transfer documents. We are not a party to any lease agreement and are not responsible for the condition of any property.

3. Verification and Accuracy

By listing a property on Fwago, you confirm that all information submitted — including the tenancy agreement, electricity bill, and property details — is accurate and belongs to you. Submitting false information is grounds for immediate removal from the platform and forfeiture of any held funds.

4. Fees

  • Exiting tenant: 10% of the remaining lease value, deducted automatically from escrow on transfer completion.
  • Incoming tenant: 5% escrow fee on the entry payment, covering secure holding via Paystack.
  • Landlord: Free.

Fees are non-refundable once a transfer has been completed and confirmed by all parties.

5. Escrow and Payments

All payments are processed and held by Paystack, a licensed payment service provider. Fwago does not hold funds directly. Escrow is released only when all three parties — exiting tenant, incoming tenant, and landlord — have confirmed the transfer on the platform.

6. Landlord Consent

No transfer is complete without the landlord's explicit consent. Fwago will send a formal consent package to the landlord at Stage 5. If the landlord withholds consent, escrow is returned to the incoming tenant within 5 business days, less any applicable processing fees.

7. Prohibited Conduct

  • Listing a property you do not have a valid lease for
  • Circumventing the platform to transact directly with a matched party (leakage)
  • Providing false identity, employment, or property information
  • Using the platform for any purpose other than legitimate lease transfers

Parties found to have transacted outside the platform after being matched through Fwago will be liable for the full Fwago fee as damages.

8. Limitation of Liability

Fwago is a coordination platform. We are not liable for any disputes arising between tenants and landlords, property damage, or failure of a transfer due to a third party's actions. Our liability is limited to the fees paid to Fwago for the specific transaction in question.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users via WhatsApp or email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
